Control Engineer Apprentice Pathway

3 YEAR TRAINING PERIOD*

Subject to relevant qualifications, you will attend college/university on a degree level, HNC/D, or NVQ and BTEC level course in a day release format, and usually an Electrical Qualification. This will give you the knowledge and foundation to become a successful BMS Control Engineer.

WORKSHOP EXPERIENCE

Learning how to use hand and power tools to build complex electronic control panels and motor control centres. Quality control checks and functional testing.


CONTRACT SUPPORT

Learning to create and understand electrical wiring diagrams from specifications and building plans. Working closely with the workshop and project teams.


SALES

By working closely with the business development team, apprentices will learn how to quote for new jobs and liaise with clients.

PROJECT TEAMS

Assisting with design and commissioning of control systems, working alongside more senior engineers both in the office and on site.


TECHNICAL TEAM

A deep dive into the programming of control system operations. Also offering remote support to mobile engineers across the country.

CLIENT SERVICES

By working closely with the business development team, apprentices will learn how to quote for new jobs and liaise with clients.


POST-APPRENTICESHIP EMPLOYMENT

Your intended role after completion of your apprenticeship is to become an engineer in one of our project teams or maintenance department. As the industry evolves, so do our roles. We support transition between departments and further training.

Primarily Tunbridge Wells office based. Once your apprenticeship is complete, site attendance will likely become more frequent.

You will gain experience in: Workshop, Contract Support, Sales, Procurement, Projects and Client Services.

Day to day reporting to your department manager, but with direct access to one of the business directors for additional mentoring.

To successfully gain the appropriate qualification and relevant experience to become a BMS Control Engineer.

 What Qualifications & Attributes do you need?

Essential Desirable
GCSE Maths & English - Grade 4 and above
3 further GCSEs or equivalent - Grade 4 and above
IT qualification
Strong desire to learn with an interest in Engineering & IT
A sense of achievement for a job well done; takes pride in their work
Good communicator
Clean UK Driving Licence/Learning to Drive
